The Great Synagogue
The Great Synagogue held a competition between architects for creating the best renovation plan for the building. Architect Richard Michael’s plan was chosen however as he was drafted to the German army, his plan could not be carried out. He was replaced by Alexander Baerwald who is also responsible for the business plan of the Technion University in Haifa. The Great Synagogue was completed by Yehuda Magidovitch in 1926.
